An Interdepartmental Commission for Development and Strengthening of Defence Capabilities was established.

The Government of the Republic of Croatia has established an Interdepartmental Commission for Development and Strengthening of Defence Capabilities and the Defence Industry in Croatia

At a session held today, on 6 May 2025, the Government of the Republic of Croatia established the Interdepartmental Commission for Development and Strengthening of Defence Capabilities and Defence Industry in Croatia. Its task is to propose and coordinate activities and plans and to analyse financial effects of the budget allocations for defence.

The Commission is headed by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Croatia, Andrej Plenković, while the deputy is the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence, Ivan Anušić, and other members are representatives of several other ministries.

According to the decision, the Interdepartmental Commission will be tasked with analysing, coordinating and monitoring the use of various sources of financing for strategically important projects, with the aim of strengthening defence capabilities and capacities of the defence industry, and monitoring the implementation of projects that will be financed from these sources.

The Commission will also establish a link between the defence and scientific research sectors with the aim of technological development, as well as encouraging research and development of defence products and technologies. It will also conduct analyses of the financial impacts of increased budgetary allocations for defence, including the possibility of activating the national derogation clause under the Stability and Growth Pact.
