Anušić at the Government’s session: Victory and Homeland Gratitude Day and Croatian Defenders’ Day will be marked with a parade in Zagreb

The Government of the Republic of Croatia and the Ministry of Defence are continuously investing in equipping and modernizing the Croatian Army, which we will also demonstrate with a parade in Zagreb where other components of the homeland security system will also participate, Anušić said

Today, on 22 May 2025, at the 92nd session of the Government of the Republic of Croatia, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Ivan Anušić presented the proposal for a Decision on establishment of the Organizing Committee for celebration of the Victory and Homeland Gratitude Day and Croatian Defenders’ Day.

In presenting the draft Decision, Minister said that this year we are marking the thirty-fifth anniversary of the Croatian statehood and the thirtieth anniversary of the military-constabulary operations Flash and Storm and a magnificent Croatian victory in the Homeland War, and emphasized: “With Croatian war veterans, owing to their knowledge and experience, we continue to build a modern and strong Croatian Army.”

The Minister emphasized the importance of organizing the parade in Zagreb: “The Government of the Republic of Croatia and the Ministry of Defence are raising the standard for Croatian soldiers so that they can live their military calling with dedication. We are continuously investing in equipping and modernizing all services of the Croatian Army, which we will demonstrate with a parade in Zagreb. There, in addition to Croatian Army, other components and bodies of the homeland security system will participate. Therefore, this Decision determines that Victory and Homeland Gratitude Day and Croatian Defenders’ Day will also be marked with a parade in Zagreb,” Minister Anušić said.

The Government of the Republic of Croatia unanimously adopted the proposal for a Decision on establishing the Organizing Committee for the celebration of Victory and Homeland Gratitude Day and Croatian Defenders’ Day. It will be chaired by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Ivan Anušić whose task is to develop the programme, prepare and organize the parade.
