Armed Forces joined the “Zelena čistka” action

Croatian Armed Forces joined the implementation of the national clean up of illegal dumps “Zelena čistka” (Green Purge) with 90 CAF members and eight vehicles.

The national campaign “Green purge – one day for a clean environment” coordinated by the Association Žmergo with the aim of raising awareness of Croatian citizens on their role in the creation and disposal of waste, will be joined by members of the Croatian Armed Forces on Friday and Saturday, 20 and 21 April 2012, with the cleaning action of the illegal dumping sites in Karlovac (Logorište Barracks), Vukovar (Petar Svačić Street), Osijek (Block Centre 2, Tenjska cesta), Požega (F. Basaričeka street) and Zagreb on three locations (Zelenjak, Branimirova- Retkovec, Zavrtnica).
Total of 90 CAF members will be engaged for these activities with the accompanying mechanization for loading and garbage collection (5 trucks and 3 loaders). In these activities will participate members of the Croatian Army (HKoV), of the Honorary Protection Battalion (PZB), Support Command (ZzP) and of the Croatian Military Academy (HVU).

Members of the Armed Forces for many years continuously actively participate in various ways in the action of cleaning the environment throughout Croatia. Members of the Croatian Army (HKoV) and Support Command (ZzP) except with employees have been also involved with logistics and machinery to support these activities. Members of the Croatian Navy (HRM) continuously participate in the annual cleaning of sea in cooperation with local governments and tourism associations, where Navy provides divers and all the equipment and vessels. Also, members of the Croatian Air Force and Air Defence (HRZ I PZO) participated with the transport helicopters in the activities of the wreck removal and disposal of large waste from mountainous and inaccessible terrain throughout Croatia.
