Beginning of edcuation on Military Academy
A ceremony marking the start of the education and training at the “Petar Zrinski” Croatian Military Academy (HVU) was held today, 13 September 2012 in the HVU Officer’s Club.
Along with the HVU staff and students of all levels of education, the ceremony was attended by the representative of the Minister of Defence, Chief of General Staff Lieutenant General Drago Lovrić, Commander of the Army Major General Dragutin Repinc, Support Command Commander Major General Mate Ostović, acting HVU director, Brigadier General Slaven Zdilar, and other representatives of the Defence Ministry and Armed Forces.
During his address, General Lovrić said that the number of participants confirmed the orientation towards lifelong education of CAF servicemen and students from partner and allied countries confirmed the quality of the training. CAF transformation sought the HVU to transform, which enables participants to precisely acquire those skills needed by our Armed Forces, Chief of General Staff said. Added that education was the foundation on which would rest further development of the Croatian Armed Forces, Lovrić told students to be curious, active and creative.
Brigadier General Zdilar named the education as path of knowledge on which the soldiers would perfect in their honourable vocation and advance in their service. “We are pleased to offer you a pleasant working environment, a friendly atmosphere, modern curricula and teaching methods and we expect from you hard work, dedication, professionalism in work and in mutual cooperation”, General Zdilar said adding that the HVU strives to educate and train modern, high-quality and well-equipped officers and NCOs of the 21st century, compatible to those from other NATO member countries.
In the 2012/2013 school year, 298 students, of which 14 from foreign countries (Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Macedonia and Slovenia) will start with the education in six levels (3 officer and 3 NCO levels).
