Bozinovic at the “IDEX 2011” military equipment and armaments exhibition
At the invitation of Vice-President, Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Sheikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Minister of Defence Davor Bozinovic has been in visit to Abu Dhabi, where the exhibition of military equipment and armaments “IDEX 2011” has been held.
Croatian companies “Djuro Djakovic – Special Vehicles Inc.”, “DOK-ING”, “Bush Sestan Ltd.”, “Inkop-Footwear Ltd.”, “Kroko International Ltd.”, “Agencija Alan Ltd” and the Croatian Chamber of Commerce which have been participating on the exhibition, were visited by Minister Bozinovic.
The support of the Ministry of Defence to Croatian companies in coming into the market is particularly important in this region of the Middle East, about which Minister Bozinovic will discuss with the UAE officials.
“This fair is an opportunity to see in which directions the development of military industries in the world is expected to go, which are the trends and if we are to remain present in this market we must constantly keep up with others”, Bozinovic said during the talks with Croatian exhibitors on “IDEX”. “The fair is also an opportunity for meeting the related producers of military equipment and testing capabilities to go on third markets”, Bozinovic said.
The UAE was the largest importer of new military equipment last year in the Middle East, and in the 2008, the third largest in the world by importing military equipment after China and India. In the period from 2004 to 2008, the UAE was the importer of 34% of the total imports of military equipment and armaments in the region.
“IDEX” Fair is the 10th jubilee exhibition, held every two years since 1993, and this year will bring together more than 1000 companies from around the world. It is expected that more than 50 000 visitors from around the world including many civilian and military officials will visit the fair.
