Bozinovic attends 28th International Workshop on Global Security
Defence Minister Davor Bozinovic participated today, on Friday, 17 June 2011, at 28th International Workshop on Global Security held in Paris. This year’s workshop brought together 30 ministers of defence, foreign affairs and other senior officials from the defence sector from the countries of Europe and the world, as well as representatives from the defence and IT industries.
One of the main themes of this workshop was defence against cyber attacks, and the discussion was also about the ISAF mission in Afghanistan and the crisis in North Africa and the Middle East.
Minister Bozinovic participated on the workshop together with the ministers of defence from the region on the panel devoted to security challenges and cooperation among the countries of Southeast Europe, where he particularly emphasized the importance of joint military cooperation and further Euro-Atlantic integration processes in the area.
Minister Bozinovic on this occasion stressed the recent announcement on successful completion of negotiations for Croatia’s accession to the EU, which directly contributes to regional stability and security. Also, Minister stressed that Croatia will continue to support all countries in the region in bringing them closer to Euro-Atlantic integrations “because it is the common interest the full integration of the region in the EU”. He also stressed the importance of regional cooperation in the defence industry. Speaking on the Croatian contribution to the ISAF mission in Afghanistan Minister Bozinovic stressed the role of Croatia in the School of Military Police in Kabul as the leading nation, as well as inclusion of other countries from the region to this initiative, aimed at meeting the critical capabilities – instructors and mentors.
