Brig. Gen. Garašić receives Achievement Medal
Brigadier General Gordana Garašić, Gender Advisor to the ISAF Command, has been awarded the Achievement Medal in recognition of her engagement in the integration of women into the Special Police in ISAF.
She was presented with the Medal by Major General Asadullah Sherzad, the Commander of the General Command Police Special Unit, who congratulated her on the decoration, stressing that the Special Police Training Centre, which was to welcome a Croatian advisor team as of 2015 as well, designated the space intended for future female members of the Special Police.
The Gender Advisors to ISAF and Resolute Support respectively are assigned with training, support and advising the partners in the Afghan Ministry of Defence and the Ministry of the Interior respectively regarding the matter of integration of women and their active and efficient operation, in accordance with the assumed international obligations. Both ministries have adopted strategic documents and plans envisaging the growth of the percentage of women in the security force from the present 2% (869 in the Army and 2400 in the Police) to 10% within the next decade.
