CAF delegation at the annual ACT conference in Norfolk

Deputy Chief of General Staff Brigadier General Mate Pađen and the Croatian military representative to NATO and the EU, Major General Mirko Šundov participated on the conference “NATO Transformation 2020 and Beyond” held on 12 and 13 December 2012 in Norfolk, Virginia, USA, which was attended by more than 240 participants from 52 countries.

The conference, organized by the Allied Command Transformation (ACT), was an opportunity for discussion and direct exchange of views on cooperation and activities targeted to specific projects in the field of military transformation. They also exchanged information on current and future projects, presented the national transformational experience, and have discussed ways of further cooperation.

Senior NATO representatives spoke about current issues arising from the tasks from the NATO summit in Lisbon and Chicago, NATO operations after ISAF, NATO defence planning process, Connected Forces Initiative and the future modus of work. CAF Deputy Chief of General Staff Brigadier General Mate Pađen, talked about the CAF experience and cooperation within the US-Adriatic Charter.

In the framework of bilateral and multilateral consultations, a number of issues have been addressed: future concepts, centers of excellence, fight against improvised explosive devices and innovations.

Generals Pađen and Šundov met the Commander of the Allied Command Transformation, General Jean-Paul Paloméros and his deputy General Mieczyslaw Bieniek, and talked about the transformation process and future cooperation.

Along with generals Pađen and Šundov, the conference was attended by the Head of Cabinet of the Chief of General Staff Colonel Jozo Antolović and representatives of the National Military Representation of the Republic of Croatia to the Allied Command Transformation (ACT), Colonel Ivica Kranjčević and Lieutenant Colonel Nevenka Kovač.
