CAF helicopter returned from Montenegro to Croatia

Two crews of the Transport Helicopter Squadron (ETH), who on 17 February 2012, were sent to Montenegro with one MI-8 MTV helicopter in order to assist the local population in emergency supplies and rescue people from the effect of snow storms, returned on Tuesday, 21 February 2012, to Croatia, where they landed in “Knez Trpimir” barracks in Divulje at 16.00 hrs.

During the humanitarian mission in Montenegro members of the Croatian Air Force and Air Defence were involved in air missions delivering food and medicine and in evacuating the sick and elders from snow cut-off areas in Montenegro. Crews performed ​​41 flights in total duration of 10h15min in which 86 people and 1.5 tons of cargo were transported. Head of the Croatian team was Captain Ante Siniša Kozina, with the crew, first lieutenants Goran Jelić and Neven Korica, second lieutenants Joip Perić and Goran Petrović, and Master Sergeant Saša Lukić, Sergeant Dalibor Filipović and Corporal Frane Franić.

After Montenegro requested international assistance, a decision on sending a helicopter was adopted by the Government with the consent of the President.
