CAF officers returned from NATO Air Force Centre in Italy
Two officers of the Croatian Armed Forces, members of the Croatian Air Force and Air Defence – Lieutenant Damir Prevarek and Lieutenant Eugen Vlasic came back today, November 2, from the NATO Air Force Operations Centre Poggio Renatico in Italy, where they were sent in June this year for participation in NATO “Unified Protector” operation in Libya.
The decision to send two members of the Armed Forces to the “Unified Protector” operation in NATO Air Operations Centre in Italy, was adopted by the Croatian Parliament in May 2011. Lieutenants Prevarek and Vlasic were assigned to duty of coordinating officers and officer for the defensive air operations respectively.
Operation “Unified Protector” was carried out under the mandate of the United Nations Security Council Resolutions 1970 and 1973 from 2011, with which the international community responded to the crisis in Libya. Based on the decision of the North Atlantic Council, NATO declared the completion of the “Operation Unified Protector” on 31 October 2011.
