Chief of General Staff attends NATO and the EU MC meeting
The Chief of the General Staff of the Croatian Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Mirko Šundov on 17 and 18 May 2016 attended the NATO Military Committee and the EU Military Committee sessions in the Chiefs of Defence format held in Brussels on 17 and 18 May 2016.
NATO Military Committee meeting participants discussions the long-term military adaptation to the evolving security environment, stressing the need for a full range of capabilities to counter any threats and continued emphasis on responsiveness and readinessy advice on NATO’s future strategy, the implementation of the Readiness Action Plan, the future of the Resolute Support Mission in Afghanistan and the development of the military co-operation with the partner countries.
The session — the last one pending the summit to be held in Warsaw on 8 and 9 July 2016 – was chaired by the Chairman of the Military Committee, General Petr Pavel.
The EU Military Committee addressed the EU Foreign and Security Policy, the ongoin EU-led peace support missions and operations, the migrants crisis and its impact on the stability of the EU.
