Chief of General Staff visits Poland
Chief of General Staff Lieutenant General Drago Lovrić with a delegation paid an official visit to Poland from 4 to 6 September 2012.
On the first day of his visit General Lovrić met with Poland’s Chief of General Staff, General Mieczysłav Cieniuch. During the meeting both sides highlighted the excellent cooperation between the Polish and Croatian Armed Forces, and the hosts presented the process of transformation of the Polish Armed Forces, including the professionalization of the structure of the national reserve forces and their participation in international operations. The talks were also about engagement of NATO forces in the ISAF operation in Afghanistan and the situation in the Southeast Europe.
CAF Chief of General Staff visited the Military Gendarmerie Command of the Polish Armed Forces where the discussion was on further cooperation between the two armed forces’ military police. Due to the very successful collaboration between the Military Gendarmerie and Military Police, both at the bilateral level and within Multinational Military Police Battalion, Commander of the Military Gendarmerie handed over to the CAF Chief of General Staff the Medal of Honour of the Military Gendarmerie of the Polish Armed Forces.
During the stay in Poland, General Lovrić will also meet the Deputy Minister of Defence for Defence Policy of the Republic of Poland Robert Kupiecki in Warsaw. A visit to the Special Forces Command in Krakow and to the Command of the 12th Mechanized Division of the International Corps Northeast in Goleniow was also scheduled.
Chief of General Staff has been accompanied by the Chief of Staff of the Army, Brigadier, General Mladen Fuzul, Director of the Planning Directorate of the General Staff, Navy Captain Marileo Staničić, Military Attaché in Poland, Colonel Nediljko Bojić, Commander of the Military Police of the Army, Lieutenant Colonel Mijo Validžić and Adjutant of the Chief of General Staff, Colonel Emilio Turina.
