Children’s Association “Jak kao Jakov” visit “Wings of Storm” Group
The Charity Association “Jak kao Jakov” («Strong like Jakov»), providing care for the children suffering from malignant diseases on 23 May 2014 visited the «Krila Oluje» Aerobatic Group of the Croatian Air Force and Air Defence at the «Zemunik» Barracks.
It was the first excursion of the Association organised for the children from all over Croatia. The children evidently enjoyed the visit, which gave them the possibility to see the planes and helicopters, to play with paper planes and watch the Group’s flying programme.
“We are very excited to have visited the Aerobatic Group, and with the way the pilots welcomed us and presented their programme for the little fighters, who have been fighting serious battles in their own way”, said the Chairperson of the Association, Ivančica Rubido.
The leader of the “Krila Oluje” Aerobatics Group, Major Matija Vrđuka expressed his satisfaction over the visit of the Association.«It has been a great pleasure for us too to host the brave children here today. They were delighted to see the planes, and some among them might well become pilots one day; so, when they grow up we will be happy to host them again», concluded Major Vrđuka.
The visit was organised within the campaign «A Present for them», conducted for the fourth consecutive year, and the pilots of the «Wings of Storm» have provided valuable support and encouragement for their treatment, recovery and future life.
The Association “Strong like Jakov” was founded in 2011 in memory of Jakov Rubido, a 13-year boy who suffered from grave leukemia and was fighting his disease bravely despite the age.
