Commander of German Operations Command visits MOD

The Commander of Operations Command of the German Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Rainer Glatz paid an official visit to the Defence Ministry on Thursday, September 15.

Lieutenant General Rainer Glatz was received by the MOD State Secretary Pjer Simunovic and Deputy Chief of General Staff for Operations, Admiral Zdenko Simicic.

During a meeting with State Secretary Simunovic they discussed cooperation in NATO led ISAF operation in Afghanistan. During the talks both sides expressed satisfaction with the cooperation within the Regional Command North in Afghanistan, where Germany has been the leading nation, with the expectation that the successful cooperation would continue. Views on the current status of operation during the transition process were also exchanged, where they emphasized the need to continue with a strong commitment in supporting and training of Afghan security forces as the basis for the successful implementation of the security transition to Afghan institutions.
