Commander of RAFOman visits Omani pilots at Zemunik
During their three-day stay in Croatia, the Omani delegation, led by the Commander of Royal Air Force of Oman, General Matar bin Ali al Obaidani, on 23 October visited the Zemunik Barracks and the Omani pilots undergoing the training
and was welcome by the Commander of the 93rd Air Force and Air Defence Base and of the Training Centre “Rudolf Perešin”, Lt. Col. Karol Lučan and Colonel Dragan Oljica. General Matar bin Ali al Obaidani also met with the Commander of the Croatian Air Force and Air Defence, Major General Dražen Ščuri, who informed him that the Omani pilot training was in its last phase, as planned.
The Omani Air Force Commander then met with the pilots and visited their accomodation and working spaces, and was briefed on the training model and conduct by the Airplane Squadron, Major Željko Harapin. The Omani pilots are presently following the group flying, to be followed by night time flying and a special profile section tailored for the Omani trainees, as a cross-cut of all training segments.
“Over 1500 fyling hours have been logged so far in the training, conducted in compliance with the top standards”, Major Harapin said, and stressed that upon completion of their training at Zemunik the Omani pilots will be endorsed to take superior aircraft training.
General Matar bin Ali al Obaidani extended his appreciation to the Croatian Air Force and Air Defence for the professional assistance provided in the training for the Omani pilots.
“The working and living conditions in Zemunik are excellent, and all clauses of the agreement have been duly fulfilled, and we are looking forward to welcoming our pilots back from their training”, said the General, who is due to meet with the Chief of the General Staff of the Croatian Armed Forces, General Drago Lovrić too.
