Conference on “NATO’s new Strategic Concept-Challenges and Prospects”
State Secretary of the Ministry of Defence Pjer Simunovic participated today, 3 December 2010, in Zagreb, at a conference titled “NATO’s new Strategic Concept – Challenges and Prospects”, organized by the Institute for International Relations.
MOD State Secretary Simunovic spoke about a new strategic concept of defence, and recalled that NATO had at the time of establishment a clear enemy which eventually changed, but the value of collective defence remained the same. “This is the source from which the Alliance draws all their capabilities and strengths. There can be no other way around because you can not create such a force on the fact that you are a peace organization”, Secretary of State said.
He stressed that Croatia supports countries in Southeast Europe, which are not yet members, on their path to join NATO.
