Croatian Air Force pilots on exercise in Denmark
Group of pilots, members of the 93rd Air Force Base, with three Pilatus PC-9M aircraft, participated from 13 to 26 June on the international NATO / PfP military exercises “Close Air Support” in Karup, in the Kingdom of Denmark. Air force transport support for aircraft maintenance was provided by the squadron of transport aircrafts of the 91st Air Base with An 32 airplane.
In addition to the host country, Denmark, pilots from Croatia, United States and Norway participated in the exercise. Exercise was planned and conducted in order to develop all elements in the chain of close air support through the scenario developed for the tactical level, and overall development of air-land inter-service action, and to check the functionality of new equipment and battle-focused training for all participants.
As a precursor to this activity, pilots of the 93rd Air Base participated in early June in the “Air Show 2010 “, marking the 60th anniversary of the Royal Danish Air Force in the “Skrydstrup” Air Base with a crew of one Pilatus PC-9 M.
This activity fully adopted procedures and ways of providing close air support (CAS) with guidance from the ground by the skilled and unskilled forward air controllers (FAC) from medium and high altitudes, which confirmed the high readiness and competence of Croatian pilots in the international framework.
