Croatian and Slovenian troops in Kabul celebrate National Day

Members of the Croatian Armed Forces of the 17th contingent in the ISAF mission in Afghanistan, assigned to the mentoring tasks in the Military Police School in Kabul, who from the beginning of June this year train the Afghan National Army, on Saturday, 25 June 2011 together with their Slovenian colleagues who have been also assigned to the MP School, celebrated the National Days of the Republic of Croatia and Slovenia.

Croatian and Slovenian members of the Armed Forces were congratulated by the Deputy Commander of the NATO Training Mission-Afghanistan, Major General James Mallory (USA) and Commander of the Combined Training Advisory Group-Army Brigadier General David Maddan (GBR).

ANA Military Police School in Kabul, where leading nation is the Republic of Croatia, is part of the NATO Training Mission – Afghanistan, and currently 17 CAF mentors and two mentors of the Slovenian Armed Forces have been deployed to the School. Currently members of Company of 215th ANA MP Corps have been undergoing training, and on Saturday, 25th June 2011, a new group of 70 Afghan soldiers and NCOs arrived for the training, thus  opening two new military police course: MP Course PSD (Protective Services Duties) and MP Corrections Operations Course. In addition, for the first time literacy classes were organized in the MP School, which will be conducted regularly, once a week, by two teachers.

By the end of this year, both individual and joint military and police training will take about 900 members of the Afghan army that will be allocated to six new MP companies. In addition to training programs, Croatian-Slovenian mentoring team is responsible for the development of doctrine, the organization and personnel, equipment, infrastructure, developing of leaders and management training system.
