Croatian-Austrian Defence Consultations

The Assistant Defence Minister for Defence Policy of the Republic of Croatia, Zoran Drča and the Assistant Federal Minister for Defence and Sports of the Republic of Austria, Johann Frank held bilateral defence consultations in Vienna on 2 July  2014

which encompassed the defence co-operation, participation in the European Security and Defence Policy, the forthcoming NATO Summit, as well as the exchange of the views on the regional and global security respectively and the current defence reforms status in the Armed Forces of the two countries. 
In view of the intense on-going co-operation between the Republic of Croatia and the Republic of Austria within the regional initiatives in the South-East Europe, the two sides also discussed the future modalities of stability and security of the region, underlining Croatia’s interest to continue supporting the Euro-Atlantic integration perspective of the countries and providing them with expert assistance. 

The two sides also concluded that in the present reduced defence budgets situation, the existing bilateral defence co-operation should be deepened, particularly within the Central European Defence Cooperation framework.
Assistant Minister Drča extended gratitude to Austria for years-long hosting of the members of the Croatian Armed Forces undergoing educating and training programmes for peace support operations and stressed the co-operation of the two respective Air Forces and education institutions.
The Embassy of the Republic of Croatia has been nominated NATO Contact Point Embassy in Austria (in the period from 1 January 2013 to end December 2014.
