Croatian FF forces continue assistance in Italy

The flying crews of the Firerighter Squadron (a total of 14 members) of the 93 rd Air Base of the Croatian Air Force and Air Defence (flying two Canadairs CL-415 continued assisting in firefighting in the vicinity of Turin, Italy.

Deployed to Italy for the first time, the Croatian firefighter forces, stationed at the airport of Genoa, assisted fighting the fires in north Italy (Gargnano and Mompantero), flying for six hours in pairs with the Italian forces and dropping 60 tons of water on the firesites.

The Croatian crews have been dispatched to assist Italy pursuant to the request of the European Civil Protection Mechanism and the National Protection and Rescue Directorate, and upon the proposal by the Croatian Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister and with prior consent of the President of the Republic, in compliance with the Croatian Government’s Decision on the deployment of the Croatian Armed Forces for the purpose of rendering humanitarian assistance to Italian Republic, dated 28 October 2017.
