Croatian military helicopters recover five patients during the weekend
The crews of the Transport Helicopter Squadron of the 93 Air Base had several interventions during the weekend, recovering four patients to the Split University Hospital Centre and one alpinist intervention from the Velika Paklenica National Park.
On Friday 4 April 2014 a Mi-8 MTV helicopter transported a three-year old infant from Blato in the island of Korčula, and on Saturday a patient from Grohote in the island of Šolta. The next intervention was a night-time transport from the island of Šolta, and later from the island of Vis respectively.
The most demanding was the intervention on Saturday 5 Apri 2014, involving a helicopter recovery (using a line suspended below the helicopter) of a young female alpinist injured during climbing in the Velika Paklenica National Park. A member of the Mi-8MTV crew , Captain Nikola Gažo engaged in person to recover her, and emphasised the high level of trainedness of the crew under most difficult conditions. “We had to act quickly in view of the severity of the injuries, the imminent dark and the falling rain; safe and efficient conduct of the intervention was our imperative”, said Captain Gažo.
The number of the patients airlifted by the crews of the Base at Divulje rose to 88.
