Croatian pilgrims travelled to Lourdes
In organization of the Military Ordinary nearly 800 pilgrims set off on Wednesday, 17 May 201, from Zagreb on the 19th military pilgrimage to Lourdes, where they will together with the pilgrims from more than 50 countries participate at the 53rd international military pilgrimage.
The pilgrimage under the motto “United in one Father and one Prayer” will be held from 17 to 24 May 2011. The commander of this year’s pilgrimage is Brigadier General Tomo Medved and his deputy, Rear Admiral (LH) Tihomir Erceg.
Before the trip, a holy mass led by the military bishop, msgr. Juraj Jezerinac was held. “It seems to me that this motto came in good time, since more and more people in the world turn away, both from God and each other. It is therefore necessary to again become aware that we are all interconnected. Although we come from many different nations, languages and cultures, we all do one big family called the Church, composed of different limbs, as said the Apostle Paul. We are all brothers and sisters, children of the heavenly Father, as we learned from Jesus Christ”, Msgr. Jezerinac said in his homily. He wished that the pilgrimage would be held in a spirit of interdependence, united in love and prayer and urged the pilgrims to help each other during the journey, to make their trip to Lourdes comfortable. “The pilgrimage aims to link the world and awareness, especially of military and police forces, to be more united with God, and thus with each other, building the peace together. We go in Luordes proudly, first of all grateful for the graces that we as a people have received through the hands of Mary”, Jezerinac said.
“I am confident that this year’s pilgrimage will be a meeting of friends and the nations connected with the same values”, General Medved said.
