Croatian “Pleter” Music Festival

Upon the Croatian Armed Forces’ Day and the Day of Croatian Army, Croatian “Pleter” music festival was held in the “Zrinski” Officer’s Club in Karlovac on May 27.

Festival organizers were “Stadium” Veterans’ Association and Association of Croatian Homeland War Volunteers, co-organizer was the Ministry of Defence, and it was sponsored by the Minister of Family, Veterans and Intergenerational Solidarity, Tomislav Ivic.
The festival featured some of the participants and winners of previously held festivals, including well known Croatian musicians Vinko Coce, Boris Ciro Gasparac, Zoran Jelenkovic, Ivo Pattiera, Pero Rogan, Alen Vitasovic, Tomislav Bralic and Intrade Band, Maslina Band and Croatian Navy “Sv. Juraj” Band, and the choir of the Ministry of Interior, and as a surprise guest Miroslav Skoro.

On behalf of the organizers, the guests, among whom were the envoy of the President Zlatko Gareljić, Minister of Defence Branko Vukelic and Military Ordinary Bishop Juraj Jezerinac and senior officials of Ministry of Defence and Ministry of Family, Veterans and Intergenerational Solidarity, were welcomed by Chairman of the Veterans Association Tom Kacinari. Minister Ivic also addressed the present, welcoming all gathered on behalf of the Prime Minister Jadranka Kosor.

Croatian “Pleter” music festival is a successor of the same name CAF festival which was held for the last time in Karlovac ten years ago. Therefore, this year conducted a retrospective of the most successful songs, performed in so far six held festivals. In addition to the musical dimension, organizers have launched a charity campaign to gathered funds for the treatment of heavily ill Tomislav Kaic, a son of Croatian veteran Zoltan from Baranja.
