Croatian – UK defence consultations
The Assistant Defence Minister, Zoran Drča and the Director for the International Security Police of the Ministry of Defence of the United Kingdom, on 28 September held the security defence consultations, aimed at expanded bilateral cooperation, as well as the co-operation as NATO and EU members.
The two senior defence officials discussed the impact of the security crisis in th Middle East and Ukraine on the current security and political situation in Europe. They particularly focussed on the ongoing migrant crisis and the planned actions by the EU and NATO to respond to the deteriorated situation in the Euro-Atlantic area. They also brought up the upcoming NATO Summit in Warsaw and the future development of the EU Common Security and Defence Policy.
The United Kingdom’s position is that the Warsaw Summit should demonstrate NATO’s credibility, by implementing the conclusions of the Wales Summit.
The continued support for the enlargement policy of the two countries as well as for the further stabilisation of the region.
Assistant Minister Drča stressed the strengthened partnership between the United Kingdom and the Croatian Armed Forces over the past years, with respect to the activity range and quality.
The shared view was that the Croatian Armed Forces’ participation in the Allied Rapid Response with the UK as the Framework Nation was a proof of the mutual trust and friendly relations, and an important booster for overall defence co-operation.
