Defence Council issues recommendation for MFA

The 11th session of the Defence Council , convened pursuant to the Defence Act by the President of the Republic and the Prime Minister, was held in the seat of the Croatian Government on 27 March 2018; the agenda featuring also the procurement of the multipurpose fighter aircraft.

The members of the Defence Council are the President of the Republic (as Supreme Commander of the Croatian Armed Forces) the  Prime Minister, the  Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister, the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign and European Affairs Minister, the Minister of Finance, the  Chief of General Staff of the Croatian Armed Forces, the Chairman of the Defence Committee of the Croatian Parliament and the Advisor to the President of the Republic for defence.
 

The expert team of the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Croatia tasked with the preparation of procurement of the multi-purpose fighter aircraft presented a Feasibility Study.

The Defence Council adopted the expert opinion and recommendations to select the offer of Israel, and issued its recommendation to the Government of the Republic of Croatia to initiate the project of procurement of Croatian Armed Forces with the respective fighte aircraft.

At its session of 14 December 2017 the Council endorsed unanimously the project.
The Council has also approved the draft Strategic Defence Review and  issued the  recommendation to the Ministry of Defence to initiate the procedure.
