Defence Minister Bozinovic met Admiral Stavridis
Defence Minister Davor Bozinovic met on Friday, 4 February 2011, the Supreme Allied Commander Europe, Admiral James G. Stavridis on the sidelines of the Munich security conference.
Minister Bozinovic and Admiral Stavridis discussed security and defence matters, with special emphasis on the region. Minister Bozinovic highlighted the contribution that Croatia provides to stabilization of the region, but also the active Croatia’s role in international peacekeeping mission in Afghanistan. He said that the inclusion of countries from the region in a possible joint contribution to the peacekeeping mission in Afghanistan would contribute to further stabilization in the region.
Admiral Stavridis commended the Croatia’s involvement in peacekeeping missions in Afghanistan and Kosovo, adding that he was proud of Croatian soldiers, expressing his positive opinion on cooperation within the A5 US-Adriatic Charter. As for Croatian accession to the EU, Admiral Stavridis has expressed strong support to soon Croatian accession to the EU. Regarding the appointment of new Chief of General Staff, Admiral Stavridis said that he was confident that a good military cooperation would continue with the new Chief of General Staff, and noted that he worked well with Lieutenant General Drago Lovric several years within the NATO military structures.
