Defence Minister visits Aeronautical Technical Centre
The Croatian Deputy Prime Minister and the Defence Minister Damir Krstičević and his staff on 1 February 2017 visited the Aeronautical Technical Centre located in Velika Gorica
where they were welcomed by the Chairman of the Board of Directors Pavao Krpan and a member of the Board of Directors Marijo Dokupil who briefed him on the Institute history , the current activities and the co-operation with the partners outside the Ministry, as well as the mid-term and long-term projections for its development.
Expressing the satisfaction over the visit Minister Krstičević underlined the importance of the Aeronautical Technical Centre for the Ministry of Defence, and in particular for the Croatian Air Force and Air Defence.“The maintenance of the air assets of the Croatian Air Force and Air Defence is your job. My request for you is to remain focussed fully on it, to acquire new capabilities and higher standards. The Centre’s operation directly affects the operative capability of the Croatian Air Force and Air Defence, and therefore its quality mustn’t be compromised. Its growth, the investment into know-how and the modernisation are in the national interest“, said the Minister.
The Aeronautical Technical Centre is a joint stock company established pursuant to the Decision of the Croatian Government of 2009, whose primary business is maintenance and overhaul of aircraft. The compound occupies 230,000 m2 and comprises hangars, working halls, workshops, depots, the headquarters, a helidrome and the airstrip. It also has direct access to the runway of the Zagreb Airport.
In 2010 the Aeronautical Technical Centre and the Ministry of Defence signed an Agreement on Business and Technical Co-operation. The core business of the Institute is maintenance of aircraft and the components which are under the responsability of the Ministry of Defence (preventive and repair works, overhauls and others) performed in the Institute’s compound and in the units of the Croatian Armed Forces.
