Defence Minister visits Ammo Depot at Doljani

The delegation of the Ministry of Defence and the Armed Forces, headed by the Minister, Mr. Ante Kotromanović and the Deputy Chief of the General Staff, RAdm Ante Urlić visited today, 15 February 2013, the town of Daruvar and the „Hrvatski ždral“ Ammunition Depot at the nearby village of Doljani.

At the meeting with Mr. Dalibor Rohlik, the mayor of Daruvar and his staff the delegation discussed the 10 new projects for building earth-covered magazines (ECMs) within the Depot.
The Minister visited several facilities of the „Hrvatski Ždral˝ Depot accompanied by the Commander of the Support Command, Maj. Gen. Mate Ostović,  and was briefed on the projects of new ammunition depot facilities for use by the Armed Forces of the Republic of Croatia. “The new depots are going to have better construction and will be safe and autonomous, in conformity with to the NATO Standards, and thus upgrade the level of safety for the population″, said Minister Kotromanović, and informed that the construction of the magazines will begin during 2014 upon the fulfilment of all pre-conditions. The estimate of the expenses of construction and furbishing is underway. The projects will be funded over the next 6 or 7 year-period.

Minister also stated that the MoD supports the local government’s projects of connecting the village of Doljani to the municipal water pipeline.

Following the meeting the delegation paid respects at the Monument to Daruvar’s defenders.
