Delegation of the People’s Republic of China visits Ministry of Defence
Defence Minister Davor Bozinovic received today, Monday, 12 September 2011, the high delegation of the People’s Republic of China, which paid an official visit to Croatia, led by the General Xu Caihou, Vice President of the Central Military Commission of the People’s Republic of China.
General Xu Caihou was accompanied by the Deputy Chief of General Staff of People’s Republic of China, General Ma Xiaotian, and eight other generals and admirals – several Chinese military commanders of military regions, representatives of the Navy and Air Force, and other senior officials of the Ministry of National Defence of the People’s Republic of China.
Minister Bozinovic during the talks with the Chinese delegation said that there were no open issues between Croatia and the People’s Republic of China, and that there was enough space for even better cooperation between the two countries, including cooperation in the field of international security. Minister Bozinovic stressed the role of Croatia as NATO member in international peacekeeping missions, highlighting that Croatia was already contributing to the European Security and Defence Policy, although not yet a full member of the EU.
General Xu Caihou pointed out that Croatia was a young country, but that the Croatian people was one of the oldest in Europe, and agreed with the opinion that there was space for more fruitful cooperation between the two countries on defence and security plan. The General also presented Chinese priorities in international and security policy, and proposed the continuation of established mutual visits of high delegations and possibility of exchange of officers in the field of education and training.
In the continuation of today’s visit, the Chinese delegation visited the Croatian Military Academy ‘Petar Zrinski’ where they were presented with educational programs for active military personnel.
