Delegation of the U.S. Air Force War College visited the Croatian Military College
A delegation of the U.S. Air Force War College (AWC), who has been on a study tour, visited today, March 18, the Croatian Military Academy (HVU) Petar Zrinski.
The delegation was welcomed by the HVU Director-General Mirko Sundov, followed by a brief presentation about the history, structure and tasks of the Academy.
The central part of the visit was devoted to a roundtable on the topic “Challenges of transformation and integration of defence system and Croatian Armed Forces”, led by State Secretary of Ministry of Defence Pjer Simunovic. The discussion attended AWC students, HVU employees, and students of the current generation of the War College “Ban Josip Jelacic”. During his remarks the MOD State Secretary stressed that we have been drafting Croatian strategic documents related to national security and defence. Speaking of transformation and integration of defence systems and CAF, Simunovic said that it occurred in the context of several elements, with an emphasis on defence and security of the Republic of Croatia, Croatia’s membership in NATO and future membership in the EU, the participation of the CAF in international peacekeeping missions, circumstances and cooperation in the region, and modern global threats.
After the roundtable, on behalf of the guests from the United States, AWC Professor Colonel Edward Holland thanked on a friendly reception.
During the visit, the delegation of the U.S. Air Force War College visited the Military College Library, the Cadet Battalion, School of Foreign Languages and the War College, as well as the exhibition “10 years of Zrinski Guard Cakovec”.
