Deputy Minister Defence meets with Polish Chief of the General Staff
The Croatian Deputy Defence Minister, Višnja Tafra received in visit the Chief of the General Staff of the Polish Armed Forces, General Mieczyslaw Gocul, who was visiting the Republic of Croatia.
They discussed the bilateral defence co-operation between Poland and Croatia, primarily in the framework of special forces and Military Police forces of the two countries, as well as the joint deployments in peace operations. Also addressed was the current in Ukraine and in the Middle East and other topics of relevance for NATO and the EU.
Deputy Minister praised the bilateral co-operation with Poland as one of Croatia’s most important partners, and stressed the importance of Polish forces engagement in Kosovo and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
General Gocul stated that Croatia was Poland’s strategic partner too, and that the two respective Armed Forces shared a lot of similarities and praised the joint engagement in the international peace missions.
General Gocul was further received by his Croatian counterpart, General Drago Lovrić, with whom he discussed the co-operation between the Armed Forces of the two countries and their modernisation and re-organisation specificities.
The Chief of the General Staff of the Polish Armed Forces was also received by the President of the Republic of Croatia, Ivo Josipović, and visited the Croatian Defence Academy, the Croatian Special Operations Battalion and the Croatian Army Command.
