Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Anušić pays a working visit to the Croatian Navy

On Tuesday, November 28, 2023, Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Ivan Anušić with his associates, and Chief of the CAF General Staff Admiral Robert Hranj with his associates paid a working visit to the Croatian Navy at the Fleet Admiral Sveto Letica-Barba Barracks in Split.

On this occasion, Defence Minister Anušić thanked the Croatian Navy members for professional performance of their duties and tasks. He said: “Croatia is a maritime country. Our sailors honourably guard the Adriatic Sea and protect our country’s rights and interests at sea, which is of exceptional importance in times of disrupted global security situation”.

He also pointed out that the Croatian Government is modernising and equipping all services of the Croatian Armed Forces, including the Croatian Navy. “One of the important modernisation projects of the Croatian Navy is the construction of coastal patrol ships since their completion and introduction into operational use will improve the existing capabilities of the Croatian Navy. Therefore, the Ministry of Defence and the Government will take all measures to complete the project of building four coastal patrol ships,” he said.

Chief of the CAF General Staff Admiral Robert Hranj, and Croatian Navy Commander Rear Admiral Ivo Raffanelli presented the achievements and challenges of the Croatian Navy.

As part of the working visit, Defence Minister Anušić visited the Croatian Navy Operations Centre, the Navy Fleet’s Countermine Diver Platoon, the coastal patrol ship OOB-31 Omiš and the missile boat RTOP-12 Kralj Dmitar Zvonimir.

They also paid tribute to the fallen members of the Croatian Navy by laying flowers in the Memorial Room for the fallen members of the Croatian Navy.
