Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Ivan Anušić with Mark Fleming, Chargé d’Affaires of the US Embassy in the Republic of Croatia

On Wednesday, 22 November 2023, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence, Ivan Anušić, met at the Ministry of Defence with the Chargé d’Affaires of the U.S. Embassy in the Republic of Croatia, Mark Fleming.

The excellent cooperation between the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Croatia and the United States of America, a key strategic partner of Croatia in the field of defence and security, was confirmed during this first bilateral meeting between Minister of Defence Anušić and the American side.

Discussions were held regarding the joint modernization and equipping programmes of the Croatian Armed Forces, as well as opinions regarding the state of regional and international security at the moment.

On this occasion, Minister Anušić conveyed his satisfaction with the meeting and thanked the United States of America for its assistance in equipping and modernising the Croatian Armed Forces thus far. Additionally, he stated, “I will focus on concrete projects meant to bolster our defence capabilities as well as on enhancing cooperation with the United States of America. Right now, the CAF’s acquisition of Bradley armoured vehicles and Black Hawk helicopters is the most significant joint project, which I hope we will effectively complete.”
