Director General of NSPA Peter Dohmen visits MoD and CAF
The representatives of NATO Support and Procurement Agency – NSPA), General Manager Peter Dohmen and the Director of Life Cycle Management Rudolf Maus, were on an official visit to the Ministry of Defence and the Croatian Armed Forces on 28 March 2019 and met with the State Secretary for Defence Zdravko Jakop.
“The Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Croatia recognises the value and the importance of NATO Support and Procurement Agency as a reliable partner whose know-how, experience and expert knowledge is of use for the fulfilment of all goals. The Croatian Armed Forces have already made use of programmes by the Agency, and the Agency can provide support to the Croatian Armed Forces with the participation in international operations and exercises”, said the State Secretary Jakop.
The meeting with the NSPA executives was attended by the Assistant Defence Minister for Material Resources Roman Mikulić and representatives of the Ministry of Defence, of the Croatian Armed Forces, of the Croatian Chamber of Commerce and of the Ministry of Economy.
General Manager of NSPA Dohmen presented the evolution, the structure, the management and the activities by NATO Support and Procurement Agency, as well as its portfolio and the opportunities for the co-operation with the Republic of Croatia.
Dohmen also underlined that the mission of NSPA was to offer the appropriate efficient and cost-effective acquisitions, including the procurement of weaponry, logistics, operational and system support and services for NATO members, NATO military authorities and to partner countries, on an individual and collective basis, in peacetime and in crisis or war time, and upgrading their armed forces’ capabilities, contingents and other relevant organisations, in compliance with the guidelines by the North Atlantic Council , to enable them to carry out theri basic missions.
Director Maus presented the unified concept of the life cycle management “Cradle to Grave” and also the wide range of the capabilities of NATO Support and Procurement Agency.

The North Atlantic Council on 1 April 2015 approved the amendments to the NATO Support Organisation Charter featuring the establishment of NSPA as an executive body of NATO Support and Procurement Organisation (NSPO), gathering all 29 member nations represented in the NSPO Supervisory Bord, which directs and oversees the operation of NSPA.
The changes enlarged the range of Agency’ capabilities, which integrated the procurement of complex multinational weapon systems. Three main capability pillars of the NSPA include Support to operations and exercises, Life Cycle Management (including complex acquisitions) and Services.
The NSPA is headquartered in Luxembourg, with operational centres located in Luxembourg, France, Hungary and Italy.
