Driver’s course for “HMMWV” vehicles
The course for driving the multirole HMMWV M1151 vehicle was conducted in the Centre for Logistics Training and Doctrine (SzOiDL) of the Support Command in Pozega.
The aim of the course was to train students for the safe management of this high-mobility multirole vehicle in a variety of terrain and road conditions, to train them to use all devices that allow for better mobility in all weather and terrain conditions, and to familiarize students with safety measures related to the use of vehicles. Throughout the five days participants were trained in day and night (“using Night Vision Goggles”) driving conditions on the road, city and off-road, and for the driving on the natural uncontrolled terrain.
The students also were trained on the off-road driving training ground “Glavica” which offers the experience of most critical moments which a driver may encounter when using the vehicle.
The course was successfully completed by 6 driving instructors of the SzOiDL Driving Department, and during the course, students were alternated in the role of trainers and trainees in the presence of a licensed instructor for HMMWV M1151 vehicle, who is also members of SzOiDL. Upon successful completion of the course participants will be able to train future students.
The particularity of this course was that it was implemented in a specific field conditions (snow height up to 70 cm and extremely low temperatures up to -20 degrees Celsius) where the vehicle revealed as a high-quality in terms of mobility and reliability.
These armoured vehicles with related equipment, spare parts and communication equipment were donated by the U.S. Government to the Ministry of Defence and Croatian Armed Forces.
