Fifth Croatian Navy officer in “Atalanta” Operation
Croatian Navy officer Lieutenant Junior Grade Bozen Luksic was assigned to the Dutch warship “Johann de Witt” deployed in the “Atalanta” EU naval operation in the Gulf of Aden and Somali waters from 4th to 17th of April. ATALANTA operation was launched in accordance with the Security Council resolutions of the United Nations to help protect ships carrying food to Somalia from within WFP (World Food Programme), to protect ships sailing into Somali waters and refuse piracy attacks and armed attacks on ships.
Members of the Croatian Armed Forces participate in the “EU NAVFOR Somalia – Atalanta” peacekeeping operation in accordance with the Decision of the Croatian Parliament from April 3, 2009, and Lieutenant Bozen Luksic is a fifth Croatian Navy officer who participates in this operation. Besides Lieutenant Luksic, Lieutenant Commander Silvio Amizic has been assigned on the duty of operation analyst in the “Atalanta” Operation Command in Northwood, in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland
