Five emergency helicopter flights during Christmas holidays

During the Christmas holidays, in the period from 24 December to 27 December 2013, the crews of the Transport Helicopters Squadron of the 93rd Air Base recovered five patients.

On Christmas Eve a woman from the island of Korčula and early on Christmas two patients from the island of Lastovo were taken on an emergency Mi- 8 MTV flight to the University Hospital Centre in Split.

Also, upon the requests placed by the Dubrovnik and Split offices of the National Search and Rescue Directorate,  the swift intervention of the helicopter crew in the early hours of 26 December aided a patient from the island of Brač and another patient from the island of Korčula respectively.

Within the period from the early 2013 the crews from the Base in Divulje have transported a total of 483 patients, which is the size of a small settlement.

Along with the patients (residents and foreign visitors) the crews have also transported 900 members of medical teams, performing 1200 take-offs and spending a total of 24 days (577 hours) aboard the helicopters.
