Flight test on the overhauled MiGs

The two MIG-21 BIS aircraft, presently overhauled in Odessa, Ukraine underwent successful test flights and the  inspection by an expert team of the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Croatia.

The team is conducting a preliminary reception and review of the overhaul documentation of the two aircraft and launched preparations to deliver them to Croatia by land within the next two weeks.

The flight tests on both aircraft, performed by Col. Ivan Selak on Monday 31 March 2014, demonstrated that the  earlier problems with the navigation equipment have been resolved.

The testing of the rest of purchased aircraft and the final adjustments will be conducted later this week.

The Croatian Ministry of Defence reiterates that the Ukrainian side is held responsible for the aircraft until the final reception documents are signed upon the delivery to Zagreb. The final trial flights will be announced in Croatia, and will be followed by a one-day formal reception of the aircraft and documentation.
In accordance with the respective contract, Croatian side cannot execute the payment for the overhaul prior to the final reception of the aircraft in Zagreb, applying all elements of the contract to include the calculation and charging of penalties for the delay in delivery for each individual contractual item.

The Ukraine partner has announced fulfulling his obligations duly, regardless of the situation in the country.
The MoD will timely update the public on the situation with the overhaul of the Migs-21.
