Flight training of 20th generation of Croatian pilots
The introductory flight performed on the ZLIN-242 L airplane opened the basic flight training of the 20th generation of Croatian military pilots.
It was preceded by completed selection flights and theory classes administered at the Faculty of Traffic Engineering of the University of Zagreb. The cadets will spend the next three months acquiring the basic, aerobatic, navigation and group flying skills and performing 56 hours of flight per cadet, under the expert guidance of ZLIN flight instructors.
The cadets are expected to master basic flying elements and practice all routine and emergency procedures to attain the required airmanship.
Each training segment is concluded with the respective exam flight, to confirm the cadets’ ability to progress towards the subsequent stages of training.
The administrator of this module of the training is Captain Siniša Hucika, member of the “Wings of Storm” aerobatic group.
Upon its completion the cadets will be categorised into airplane and helicopter pilots, as a function of the specific abilities, interests and the organisational needs of the Croatian Air Force and Air Defence
The Commander of the Airplane Squadron, Major Željko Harapin stressed that along with the ongoing Croatian pilot training, the Squadron is to commence instructing the pilots of the Omani Royal Aif Force.
„This is a period of high flying intensity for the Squadron – the Croatian pilots take their training on ZLINs while the Omani pilots train on PC-9“, said Major Harapin.
“We conducted thorough preparations, for us this is at once a new significant challenge and step forward in terms of the development of the Squadron’s training capabilities at the national level and towards the commercial engagements in foreign markets. There is a great atmosphere in the Squadron, we are very busy, pilots are lying intensely – which is what the pilots are after”.
