General Lovric met Kosovo President and KFOR Commander
Chief of General Staff of the Croatian Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Drago Lovrić, who has been visiting the Republic of Kosovo and KFOR, on Tuesday, 17 April 2012, met the President of the Republic of Kosovo Atif Jahjaga.
During the meeting President Jahjaga stressed good relations between Croatia and the Republic of Kosovo. She stressed the importance of the Croatian contribution to peace and stability in the region and explained in detail the security situation in Kosovo and the possibility of cooperation between the two countries, especially in the field of defence. Chief of General Staff, Lieutenant General Drago Lovrić emphasized the efforts undertaken by the CAF in transformation and the CAF willingness to share experiences and knowledge with the Kosovo Security Force (KSF) in connection with reaching NATO requirements and standards, and the possibility of using CAF educational potential in the training of KSF officers.
Afterwards General Lovrić visited members of the Croatian Armed Forces of the 9th HRVCON deployed in KFOR operation – 20 members mainly from the Croatian Air Force and Air Defence with two transport helicopters Mi – 171 SH deployed in the U.S. Bondsteel Camp in Uroševac and on staff duties in KFOR Command in Priština. General Lovrić also met with the KFOR Commander, Major General Erhard Drews, Commander of Multinational Task Force – East (MNTF-E), Colonel Jeffrey J. Liethen, and with the KFOR Bondsteel Base Commander, Colonel Steven J. Campfield. During the official talks they exchanged views on the current security situation in the KFOR area of responsibility, on further transition of the operation and the contribution of the Croatian Armed Forces to KFOR, as well as on peace and stability building in Kosovo. In all the discussions, the exceptional professionalism and competence of members of the Croatian Armed Forces, who professionally and conscientiously fulfil all the set tasks, were highlighted.
