General Lovrić participating at NATO Military Committee meeting
The Chief of the General Staff of the Croatian Armed Forces General Drago Lovrić is attending the 170th meeting of the NATO Military Committee in the Chiefs of Defence format.
The members of the Committee are convening to discuss the proposals for the subsequent NATO meetings at the ministerial level as well as for the upcoming NATO Summit to take place in Wales, UK on 4-5 September 2014.
Furthermore, the Chiefs of Defence are meeting with the partners of the Mediterranean Dialogue and with the Euro-Atlantic Partnership Council to discuss future models of co-operation to adopt the NATO-Russia Council Work Plan for the current year.
NATO and Partners’ Chiefs of Defence will review the current operation in Afghanistan as a topic of critical importance and discuss plans for the future mission, Resolute Support. The participants will be addressed by SACEUR, General Breedlove, by NATO’s Senior Civilian Representative in the country, Amb. Maurits Jochems and the ISAF Commander, General Dunford. Following the overview of the security situation the participants will discuss NATO’s future presence in Kosovo.
The agenda of the second day is focussed on NATO Transformation, with regard to delivering ready, relevant and effective NATO military capabilities. The Supreme Allied Commander Transformation, General Palomeros will present on the Exercise „Trident Juncture 2015“ to be held in the course of 2015, aimed at NATO operational readiness, and will brief on the Connected Forces Initiative.
The Chairman of the EU Military Committee, General Patrick de Rousiers is presenting the conclusions from the EU Defence Summit and the plans to implement them.
The Chief of the General Staff is taking the opportunity to hold several bilateral meetings.
