Helicopter Squadron marks 18th Anniversary

The Helicopter Squadron of the 93rd Croatian Air Force and Air Defence Base marked its Day and the 18th anniversary of its formation in the Base at the “Zemunik” Barracks on Friday 7 March 2014

It was an occasion for reunion of the former commanders and members with the present ones, and for the Commander of the Croatian Air Force and Air Defence, Brig. Gen. Dražen Ščuri and the Commander of the 93rd Base, Lt. Col. Karol Lučan to address their personal congratulations.
Brig. Gen. Ščuri pointed out the Squadron’s „coming of age“ and maturing to assume new missions, such as training of foreign helicopter pilots, and stated that several countries have already placed their queries.
The Commander of the Squadron, Maj. Krešimir Ražov recalled the establishment of the Squadron in March 1996 and extended appreciation to its former commanders, stating that the past 18 years have seen 18 generations of cadets, who performed 18 000 flying hours. The achievements also include training of 112 helicopter pilots,  including two pilots from Macedonia and Bosnia and Herzegovina respectively.
Major Ražov also stated that, in addition to new training concepts, the Squadron’s ambition was to promote the flight security culture and maintain the acquired capability of flying using the night vision goggles, where each pilot of the Squadron has performed 200 flying hours.
