“Hrvatski ponos 13/2” EXE at the Slunj Training Range

The Exercise Director was Lt. Col. Tomislav Grgurović, Head of the S3 Department of the Motorised Guard Brigade Command. The Exercise participants include members of the Croatian Army and members of the Army of Montenegro, and it was planned and conducted by as many as 300 servicemen. The evaluation was scheduled through two phases (the “in barracks”, and “in the field” evaluation), and was performed by the team of the Croatian Support Command, by the CREVAL (Combat Readiness Evaluation) system.
 
„The Exercise serves to determine whether the various components of the HRVCON are deployment-ready. If this phase detects some deficiencies, enough time remains to remedy them. The HRVCONs have all attained high evaluation scores so far, with some minor shortcomings that are quite normal, and it is the evaluators’ task to help remove them“, stated the HRVCON Commander, Col. Jozo Matković during the Exercise.

„The evaluation is conducted by the expert officers who have served the terms at all the positions considered, and their first-hand advice and recommendations for service in ISAF are highly valuable“, emphasized Lt. Col. Grgurović. The Exercise scenario included a series of „incidents“ reflecting the reality of Afghanistan and the possible situations the soldiers might find themselves in, such as suicide bomber attacks,  attacks against patrols, or the use of chemical weapons. The participants, including the Croatian Army members and the members of the Army of Montenegro) dealt with the incidents  under constant monitoring by the evaluation team.
The pre-deployment training has been ongoing for some months already, and the Exercise “Hrvatski ponos 13/2“ finalised it.
