HRVCON member winner of KFOR competition in skiing

A member of the Croatian Air Force and Air Defence within the eighth Croatian contingent in KFOR on Kosovo, Major Dražen Čorić, is the overall winner of the KFOR 1st Annual Ski Competition 2012, which was held on 31 January and 1 February 2012 in the ski resort Brezovica in Kosovo.

The event was attended by 112 competitors, members of the armed forces from more than 10 countries participating in KFOR mission. The competition was held in the giant slalom discipline, in four categories: men up to 35 years, men 35-45 years, men over 45 years and the fourth category of women, in which there were 11 registered competitors.

Major Dražen Čorić started with serial number 34, and with the actual time of 35.10 seconds, besides it has secured victory in his second category, he also achieved the fastest time across all categories with 2.55 seconds ahead of competitor from Slovenia, who won 2nd place. For winning in the second category, Major Čorić was awarded a gold medal, and for the overall victory, KFOR Commander, German Major General Erhard Drews, handed him a special gift.

Major Dražen Čorić was born in 1975 in Ilok. He is married and has two sons. He was the student of second generations of cadets, and in 1998 he became a helicopter pilot of the Croatian Air Force and an officer of the Croatian Armed Forces.

He was deployed to KFOR for the first in 2009 and 2010 in the second HRVCON, and this is his second time, where as a member of the 8th HRVCON he was deployed from mid September 2011.
