International conference on recession impact on defence sector
The international conference titled “Global Financial and Economic Crisis: Its impact on the management of defence resources, procurement system in the defence sector, and its transparency” was held in the veterans’ club in Pula from 30 June to 2 July 2010.
This international conference jointly organized by the Centre for Security Cooperation (RACVIAC) and NATO, organized for the third time, has gathered 30 participants from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Croatia, Macedonia, Moldova, Netherlands, United Kingdom, Turkey, NATO representatives, representatives of Transparency International, from the Regional Cooperation Council and from U.S. “Booz Allen Hamilton” advisory agency for the management of defence resources.
The purpose of the conference was to establish a common platform for mutual exchange of views and experiences on the main aspects in the management of defence resources, in the context of the global economic crisis, primarily from the perspective of NATO member and partner countries in Europe.
The conference was opened by the RACVIAC Director Nikola Todorcevski and senior economist at the NATO Directorate of defence economics and security Adrian Kendry.
Keynote lecture titled “The Ministry of Defence in a recession” was held by the Director of the MOD International Defence Cooperation Department Davor Cutic.
