International logistics and engineering exercise
With the demonstration of engineering and logistics activities and driving military vehicles under field conditions and through the obstacles on the training ground “Glavica” in Pozega, the international military exercise IEL MILU 2011 was closed today on Friday, 11 November 2011.
Besides 50 members of the CAF Support Command, 20 members of the Armed Forces of Romania and Bulgaria, and the representative of Great Britain as a country mentor training participated on the exercise.
Commander of the Support Command, Major General Mate Ostovic, expressed his satisfaction with the exercise, saying it was an exercise that have been developed within NATO, and which allows NATO and Partnership for Peace countries to build their collective capabilities and interoperability.
Exercise itself was implemented in three phases – preparation and familiarization with the procedures, implementation according the given scenario and the demonstration of the capabilities of horizontal structures and presentation of off-road driving on the training ground.
IEL MILU (Integrated Engineering Logistics Multinational Integrated Logistic Unit) was established by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the participating countries, and the task of the unit size of reinforced company is the engineering support for logistics in the area of operations for the joint command of the forces in the NATO-led operations. Basic skills of the unit are building, repair, maintenance and management of infrastructure and facilities to support logistical components.
With off-road driving practice we create capabilities for safe and proper management of motor vehicle in all weather, terrain as well as tactical conditions.
