Israeli firefighters complete forest fire fighting course
The international Forest Fire Fighting Course, organised for 18 firemen from the State of Israel , closed in the 93rd Air Base of the Croatian Air Force and Air Defence on 22 October 2015.
The Course was organised by the National Protection and Rescue Directorate, while the flight crews of the Transport Helicopter Squadron of 93rd Croatian Air Force and Air Defence Base provided support to the Course with a Mi-8 MTV helicopter.
The Israeli firemen trained in the “Knez Trpimir” Barracks at Divulje and in the locality of Rudine near Trogir, where they familiarised with the model, the equipment and tactical forest fire fighting procedures applied by the Croatian firefighters.
The course included a joint firefighting exercise with the Kaštela Fire Department. The Mi-8-MTV crew provided support in firemen landing and transportation to the fire site. On the last day of the Course the Israeli trainees visited the Firefighter Squadron based in the Zemunik Barracks, and were presented the performance and the use of the Canadair CL-415 aircraft in forest fire fighting.
The procedure was conducted under a strong wind, calling for excellent trainedness and preparedness of the crew and the co-ordination with the members of the National Protection and Rescue Directorate.
Assistant Chief Firefighter Commander, Mladen Vinković said the Israeli firemen were highly satisfied with the opportunity to familiarise with the open space fires fighting tactics and procedures applied in Croatia. “We presented joint operation by the members of the Croatian Armed Forces and of the National Protection and Rescue Directorate, supported by aerial firefighting forces, who confirmed a high-level of professionalism“.
