Italian citizen caught poaching
During the regular monitoring of the sea around the islands of Palagruža, Croatian Navy ship “Hrvatska Kostajnica” found on Tuesday, August 21, a citizen of the Republic of Italy in fishing without the required permit.
During the checking of the documentation it was found that a citizen of the Republic of Italy had not have the necessary license to fish in the territorial sea of the Republic of Croatia and that the boat was not registered.
Since this is a violation of Article 43 Paragraph 1, which is punishable under Article 110, Paragraph 1, Item 3, Paragraph 3 of the Law on Marine Fisheries, the Fisheries Inspection and the National Center for Data Collection of the Interior Ministry in Zadar was notified, and in coordination with them, it was agreed that the boat will be escorted to Vis Island where employees of the Police Station in the afternoon issued a mandatory misdemeanor warrant according to the Marine Fisheries Act, and the Port Authority of the Vis Island punished the captain of the boat for the transgressions of Maritime Law and the Regulation on the Arrival and Stay of Foreign Yachts, Article 12 Paragraph 1 and 2.
