Joint exercise in preparation for the fire fighting season
In preparation for 2010 fire fighting season, a training exercise was held in Konavle on Monday, May 17, involving crew of the Mi-8 MTV-1 helicopter from the CAF Fire fighting Task Force, members of the State intervention unit of the State Protection and Rescue Directorate (DUZS) and members of the public fire brigades from Mljet, Konavle and Dubrovnik.
After a theoretical preparation, in the exercise conducted was trained various fire fighting techniques. Exercise was successfully done and additional exercises were planned on Korcula, Ploce and other coastal areas.
The aim of these exercises is to train coastal fire fighting forces for fire extinguishing on rugged terrain where the only possible approach to fire site is from the air.
