Joint training of helicopter crews and special forces
A joint training of helicopter crews and special forces of the Croatian Armed Forces was completed by the exercise held on Thursday, May 6, on the “Crvena zemlja” military training ground near Knin. The integral part of training was tactical combat care of wounded.
Training was conducted with the aim of raising capabilities of helicopter crews and special forces needed to participate in complex operations in which one of the very important components is extracting combat casualties and their emergency evacuation from the battlefield.
Insertion and extraction of reconnaissance and special forces teams on the field by helicopter, ground reconnaissance, direct action disabling target, assisting and preparing for immediate evacuation of the wounded and their transportation by helicopter to medical facilities, were some of the actions implemented during the exercise. As one of the components of exercise was flying at night with equipment for night flying, since the exercise was carried out late in the evening.
The joint training have been conducted for two weeks, with more than 90 members of the Special Operations Battalion, reconnaissance teams from the Army, members of the Logistics Centre for Training and Doctrine, Logistics Training and Doctrine Command, helicopter crews trained to fly at night and members of the Armed Forces of Lithuania and Latvia and instructors from the U.S. Armed Forces.
